Santiago Ramírez henao
Better known as Santi Ramirez, is a Colombian pop artist, characterized by his talent, beautiful voice and the abillity to incorporate caribbean and latin vibes .
Born in Colombia in 1990 and quickly gets involved in music, influenced by his sister. At the age of 5 he had his first approach to the guitar and soon discovered that music was what he wanted to dedicate himself to when he grew up.
He started singing traditional Colombian music and when he was 9 he took his first guitar class. He improved very fast and at the age of 11 he was already giving small concerts at school.
At the age of 13 he had to move to Bogotá D.C, the capital of Colombia, where he met the symphonic orchestra. There he learned how to play the drums and some percussion instruments. When he was 15 he was part of a rock band called Próxima Parada, which gave him the opportunity to explore the bass-guitar and since then his musical career has never been the same. By that time, he discovered that he was able to play the most important instruments in a band and he started creating music inspired by the musical artists of that time.
He dabbled in different musical genres such as Tropipop, Salsa, Vallenato, Ballad, Pop, Merengue, Bachata, Bolero, Cuban son, Colombian traditional music, Samba, Electronic music, Jazz, Funk, Bossa Nova, among others, and worked for uncountable privates and public events with the band or as a soloist. After that exploration, it took several years before his first significant project called Abakorao. Abakorao was a musical group made up of some of his friends and many other talented musicians. Santiago participated in several great events with the band and had the opportunity to record a couple of songs that became famous in the guild.
A few years later, he realized that much of his music was appreciated in other guilds and people always asked him for more songs of his own. At that moment Santi decided to go ahead and partially withdraw from private parties and serenades to focus on his solo project.
In 2018 the artist got his professional degree as Master of Arts and since that he has been working as a teacher, arranger and composer in several projects.
In 2020, he started working with Amuse, a musical distributor that allowed him to upload his music to all the digital platforms. Santi premiered his first single in June, which is called “I’m still thinking of you”, a romantic pop song that revolutionized the way in which people saw Santi. Since that time, the artist has recorded 2 more singles: “Be with you” and “My destiny was you”.
In the end of 2020, Santi moved to Delhi, India, and just 3 months later he released his first EP titled Memories, a compilation of stories and live experiences, full of love and fresh sounds. Memories can be found on all digital platforms.
Santi made his way into the musical industry of Delhi becoming the only Latino to compose, arrange, record, produce and sing music in spanish. He’s also the creator, director and vocalist of Abakorao, the only Latin Band Based in Delhi. It took almost 2 years for him to create such a big project but it’s been worth it. Abakorao has performed at several stages such as National days of Spain, Colombia, Georgia, Dominican Republic, Azerbaijan, Mexico, just to mention some, and it has participated in various contests and festivals all over India.
In november of 2022, Santi Ramirez released his first Studio Album called La Rumba Latina (The Latin Party) in collaboration with Abakorao and it’s become very popular among the diplomatic community.
A year later, a new collaboration came out, this time with the idea of combining the Latin and Indian sounds. Accompanied by Ustad Babar Latif, a great teacher and Tabla Virtuoso from India and Belén Ojeda Rojas, a very sweet person and excellent Clarinet Player from Paraguay. Toca la tabla is a piece in which the Indian Tabla finds Salsa for the first time, fitting the groove so well that it seems to have been part of it from the beginning.
In February of 2025, a new project took place. With the participation of Mohd Rafiq Langa, a Karthal Maestro and Indian Classical Musician, a beautiful song was created as a reminder of how similar both Latin and Indian cultures are. Featuring the Llanera Music from Colombia and the Rajasthani Sounds from India “El Valle” was born, bringing a fresh and revitalizing music style to keep the tradition in both the countries but also to encourage young generations to continue exploring the beauty of music.
